Hip Hop Di Java Jazz Festival
Tatkala musik hip hop Indonesia makin bergairah dengan munculnya artis-artis baru yang memberikan penyegaran. Java Jazz Festival tahun ke-13 memilih 90’s Hiphop All Star dan Naughty by Nature.
Kehadiran artis hip hop luar dan lokal era 80-90an ini lumrah menilik pada jazz ada subgenre campuran musik hip hop dan jazz bernama jazz rap.
Iwa K, NEO, Sweet Martabak, dan Black Skin secara bergantian mengisi Java Jazz Stage. “Lagu itu nggak ada lama dan baru. Adanya lagu enak sama nggak enak,” kata Iwa K di hadapan penonton malam itu.
Aksi mereka seperti biasa dikawal DJ Ethnic mengiringi lagu lama “Ti Di Dit”, “Borju”, “Kuingin Kembali”, serta “Malam Indah” dari album Mesin Imajinasi yang dibawakan bersama-sama akhiri perjumpaan.
Sebelum berganti hari trio asal Amerika Serikat, Naughty by Nature mengambil alih BNI Stage yang sebelumnya diisi Incognito Feat. Tony Momrelle.
Treach, Vin Rock, dan DJ Kay Gee menghidupkan suasana yang tidak terlalu sesak via lagu “O.P.P.”, “Craziest”, ekstra “God Is Us” mengenang rekan kolaborasi mereka, Queen Latifah.
Apakah Java Jazz Festival tahun depan bakal menyelipkan hip hop lagi? Umpama Nujabes masih hidup, ia salah satu artis yang patut masuk lineup.
Lamun penyelenggara sampai mengundang A Tribe Called Quest atau De La Soul, festival ini tetap halal ditonton pecinta jazz maupun hip hop sebagai bentuk perayaan bahwa musik bisa mempersatukan kita semua.
